I got this stuff in the mail today...

And now a picture of the car:

The power is out at the garage. Cool.

gogogo

So today I bought this:

Which is a 2ga with 2gb eclipse plastics. It's a really nice shell... it came with parts. Like this "awesome" spoiler, clearly stolen from Mr Vin Diesel himself:

(it's for sale!) ... and this motor here... which was supposed to be "a fresh rebuild with aftermarket rods and pistons, it's .020 over, new head, upgraded springs, 272 cams." Some of that is true. It's got wiped bearings and a scored up bore, stock rods, used stock turbo pistons, a half assed redone head... and 272 cams. Pretty close. Whatever. I got a nice shell and a lot of other decent parts.
motor #3, and a pool of sacrificial blood
Air goes in this hole here.
I did also work on the car today. Subframe pulled ready to be pressure washed... except the pressure washer doesn't run. Tomorrow's project.

Inspiration

This guy:

Matt builds cars out of junkyard parts and goes fucking 9's. He is also a righteous dude and a true Clevelander. Last night we bench-raced leaned up on this car. It's for real, and trust me, it's cheap.... or maybe cheap is the wrong word... "inexpensively built by a smart dude" is more like it.

About the EVO

Evos are great. An evo is a high-performance AWD rocket, the one currently available from Mitsubishi. The problem with evos? FANBOYS. Oh good god. "dood, my evo is hella sick fast yo. I'm running 400lbs of boost and it makes 10,000hp".

Nice fucking body kit asshole. You, sir, are the problem. People like that have ALWAYS been the problem. When I was a kid you could spot the posers because they had the stupidest hood scoop on their monte carlo and the loudest exhaust. Conversely, the fast guys didn't look fast, they just WERE fast.

Anyway, I'm out to show evos taillights with an 18-year-old car built Ohio style. Evoslayer.

A little light reading...

The fun part.... the first of many...

... THIS car:

A 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX.

Anyone who has any sort of interest in cars knows about DSM's. Mostly that they are kids' cars and unreliable. These things are true, but these two facts are related. Every dumbass tooner kid for years and years wanted one of these, and then proceeded to destroy it in every way you can imagine... trying (and failing mostly) to go faster. Most people are all thumbs, they can't build anything, they refuse to do research, they don't understand anything about a car let alone a semi-complicated turbo car. So these all got blown up. This car is no exception. It is on at least its third motor (that I have evidence of) and guess what, it doesn't run right.

Built right by a competent person, this is a supercar killer. This little guy will FUCK UP your Ferrari, and do it with junkyard parts.

I've owned several DSM's over the years but I've never had the space/time/money/ability all at once for a proper gonzo build. Now I do. This car is going racing. It's getting built for autocross first, but will see as much motorsport as possible. This pic is the moment right before it stopped being a car and became a race car.
This is about a car, not a motorcycle. But it starts here, with this motorcycle. I bought this bike from a friend about six years ago, rode it for a while in stock form, then I took it apart to build a cafe.  Weeks later while riding my sportbike I was run off the road a couple times in a couple weeks by asshole drivers. I lost interest in motorcycling, this project just sat in the shed until someone expressed interest in it, I sold it cheap....

Then that guy lost interest...

And I got it back. Missing parts, hacked up... It sat in my shed again until last spring when I put it together enough to ride it a few days and discover that people are still assholes and I still don't want to ride on the street. So it sat in the shed again until two weeks ago when I got it out and in three days built this out of it:

.... and traded it for a car. THE car.
